Help & FAQ

How Lucien works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.

Getting started

What is Lucien?

Lucien is an AI phone concierge. You describe what you need in a sentence, and Lucien places real phone calls to businesses on your behalf — speaking their language, asking your questions, and bringing back the answers. Think of it as someone to make the call for you.

How does it work?

Three steps. You tell Lucien what you need, like “book a table for four tomorrow at 8pm.” It dials the right places — often several at once — and has the conversation for you. Then you get the results: a clear summary, plus recordings and transcripts you can replay.

What kinds of things can I ask it to do?

Anything that's normally a quick phone call: booking a restaurant, salon, or doctor's appointment; asking a shop what's in stock or what something costs; getting a quote from a plumber or garage; confirming a reservation; or ringing several places at once to compare. If it can be settled in a short call, Lucien can usually handle it.

Which countries can it call?

Lucien calls businesses in most countries, and you don't need to be in the same country as the place you're calling — describe the business or give a number, and Lucien dials it for you. Premium-rate and emergency numbers are blocked for your safety.

Which languages does it speak?

More than 30, including French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Lucien speaks to each business in its own language and confirms the right one with you before dialing.

Do I need to speak the local language?

No — that's the whole point. Lucien handles the call in the local language, then gives you the transcript and summary translated into your language, so you understand every word without speaking any of it.

During & after a call

Can I listen to the calls?

Yes. Every call is recorded, and you can replay any conversation from your history whenever you like.

Do I get a transcript in my language?

Yes. Each call is transcribed and translated into your language so you can read exactly what was said — and you can even listen to a version re-voiced in your language.

What if nobody picks up?

Lucien leaves a short voicemail when it makes sense, marks the attempt, and lets you decide whether to try again. Calls that don't connect cost next to nothing.

Can it make several calls for one request?

Yes. For something like “find who has peonies and who's cheapest,” Lucien can ring several businesses — sometimes at the same time — and bring back a ranked comparison of what each one said.

Is there a wait at busy times?

Occasionally. Calls go out in the order they're requested, so at peak times a call may wait briefly in a queue before it starts. When that happens you'll see it marked as queued, with an estimate of when it'll begin.

Can Lucien receive calls or texts?

No — Lucien only makes outbound calls on your behalf. It doesn't take incoming calls, send or receive text messages, or give out a number people can reach you on.

Will the business know it's an AI?

Lucien speaks naturally, like a person making a short enquiry, and where the law requires it the call opens with a recording notice. It never pretends to be someone it isn't — it simply makes the call you asked for.

How accurate is it?

Lucien is very capable, but it's automated and can occasionally mishear or misunderstand. Always double-check anything important — a reservation, a price, an opening time — against the recording and summary before relying on it.

Pricing & credit

How much does a call cost?

You pay only for talk time, billed by the second. Most short calls cost just a few cents, and even a couple of minutes is usually only a fraction of a euro — or the equivalent in your currency. You see the exact cost of every call afterwards, and you're only charged for calls that connect.

Is there a subscription?

No. Lucien is pay-as-you-go: you top up credit and calls draw from it by the second. There's no monthly fee and nothing to cancel.

What's the minimum top-up, and is there free credit to try?

Add a card and your first bit of credit is on us — enough for a real call. After that you can top up whenever you like, from about 2 € (or the equivalent in your currency), and larger top-ups earn a little bonus credit.

Do my credits expire?

Each top-up is valid for two years from the date you add it. Later top-ups don't reset older credit — Lucien simply spends your oldest available credit first.

How do I pay, and can I get an invoice?

Payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Each top-up comes with an invoice — including VAT where it applies — that you can download from your account.

Can I get a refund?

Credit is prepaid and, except where the law gives you a right to a refund, non-refundable — it stays valid for two years so it's there when you need it. If you think something was charged in error, get in touch and we'll look into it.

Account, data & privacy

How do I sign up?

You can sign up in seconds with your Google account, or with an email address and password. To start placing calls you just add a card for pay-as-you-go credit.

Who can hear my recordings, and is my data private?

Your requests, recordings, and transcripts are private to your account — and, if you're on a team, to that team's admins. We share only what's necessary with the providers that place the calls and power the voice. Read our Privacy Policy.

How long do you keep recordings and transcripts?

We keep your calls and their transcripts for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete individual requests yourself at any time.

Can I delete my data or account?

Yes. You can delete individual requests from your history, and you can ask us to delete your whole account — after which we remove or anonymize your data except anything we're legally required to keep.

Limits & responsible use

What can't Lucien do?

Lucien is for everyday, one-to-one phone tasks. It can't make emergency calls, dial premium-rate numbers, take incoming calls, or run bulk, automated, or marketing campaigns — and it won't impersonate anyone or make calls that aren't lawful.

Is it legal — am I responsible for the calls I request?

Yes. You're responsible for making sure the calls you ask for are ones you may lawfully make, and for following local rules on calling and recording. Where required, Lucien plays a recording notice at the start of the call. Read our Terms of Service.
